Dr. Robert Maimone, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon,
is Director and Founder of Dental Specialty Associates of Gramercy. He did his undergraduate study at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland before finishing his Dental Degree at New York University College of Dentistry. He then completed his General Practice Residency and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He is Board Certified in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology. Dr. Maimone holds admitting privileges at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. His vision is to provide both the uptown and downtown communities with exceptional quality oriented multi-specialty dental care in a professional and caring environment.

Dr. Ingrid Barillas, Orthodontist, graduated from dental school in 1989. She pursued post-graduate education at the Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester, NY. Her training included 2 years of Advanced Education in General Dentistry and Cosmetic Dentistry, and a 1-year training program in Hospital Dentistry. She then completed a1-year post-graduate fellowship program in Temporo-Mandibular Dysfunction followed by a 3-year certificate specialty program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Immediately thereafter, Dr. Barillas was recruited to fulfill a 2-year research/clinical program at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the New York University Medical Center in Surgical and Craniofacial Orthodontics under Dr. Barry Grayson and Dr. Joseph McCarthy. She also holds different appointments as Clinical Associate Professor at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the NYU Medical Center, Craniofacial Team and as part-time Faculty as Clinical Associate Professor at NYU Post Graduate Orthodontic Program. Once a month Dr. Barillas returns to her native Costa Rica, where she continues to treat patients that require specialized treatment.

Dr. Joanna Mentzelopoulou, Pediatric Dentist, graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1999. She continued her studies with a general practice residency at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center. During that time, she developed a strong interest in pediatric dentistry. She continued her education following this residency in pediatric dentistry at Interfaith Medical Center. Dr. Joanna is and has been for many years a member of the American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is currently serving on the board of trustees of the Second District Dental Society and she is the Chair of the Committee of the New Dentist for the Second District. New York Magazine listed Dr. Joanna as one of the best pediatric dentists in New York City in the Fall 2003 issue, Guide for New York Families. She holds privileges as a pediatric dentist at Methodist Hospital, Long Island College Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Joanna's commitment to pediatric dentistry carries a strong emphasis on prevention, as well as growth and development. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's recommendation for the initial visit to the dentist is age one. Please ask her any questions you may have about children's treatment. Dr. Joanna has been selected as an official dentist of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Dr. Cezar Mitrut, Endodontist, is a native of Warsaw, Poland. He received his dental degree and his certificate in endodontics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. His professional career includes an array of commendations and achievement awards as well as extensive clinical experience in microendodontics and Endodontic microsurgery. Dr. Mitrut enjoys lecturing in the dental community on conventional endodontics, retreatment techniques, instruments and clinical implications. These lectures cover various aspects of root canal re-treatment including removal of pastes, cements and gutta-percha, as well as retrieval of separated instruments and posts with the use of specially designed kits. Dr. Mitrut emphasizes the need for the use of the Zeiss operating surgical microscope to successfully treat challenging cases.
